— Bike for the Cure – Day 4

Today we started just south of Abbeville. Abbeville is 150 miles West of New Orleans, and 60 miles West of Baton Rouge. Elevation is only 16 feet. Waters from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina flowed this far North in 2005.

We left from Palmetto Island State park. We have found state parks to be more reasonable in price and the bath houses are always nice and clean.

Louisiana has held up to that standard and the state park are plentiful.

Traveling in an RV is an adventure. There are a lot of moving parts and you never know what is going to happen next. Today the passenger window slid down inside of the door panel off of its track. Luckily we were close to a sizable town. After stopping at one body repair shop provided by the GPS that turned out to be a security business, the Ford dealership service department headed us to a repair shop in town. Dugas Auto Repair had us back on the road in a couple of hours. Shortly we ran into a rain storm and thanked our lucky stars the window was not still down! (Actually it will not go down until we get home and get a part they did not have.) Fortunately, I had ridden my bike a couple of ten mile stints earlier, so did get some riding in, in spite of repairs and rain.
