Starting in Port Arthur, we would soon cross into Louisiana. I was excited to ride the route we took along the gulf. Remembering the cool see breeze and flat terrain I looked forward to cruising along. The shoulder was wide for parking along the water for fishing. That lasted for about eight miles. When we turned away from the Gulf the road narrowed and the shoulder disappeared. It was not as I remembered! Consequently, it was another twenty mile day on the bike by peddling around Palmetto Island State Park near Abbeville where we parked for the night. Seems like it is time to stick to the bike trails for riding as the roads have become too fast and narrow for biking.
